ViCut and Cutaway both cut a narrated documentary from your voiceover, a script or a topic, and both show you every shot before the video is made. ViCut starts at $25 a month for 55 minutes ($0.42 to $0.45 per finished minute), has no free trial, and offers 36 AI voices in English, Spanish and German. Cutaway costs $49 a month for 150 minutes (about $0.33 a minute, or $0.19 for the first 50 founding members), edits the first 15 minutes of your first video for free, and by default uses only public-domain and Creative Commons footage. Narration can be in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German or French.

What a 15-minute video costs
ViCut charges by finished minute, the same whether an AI voice or your own recording narrates. On its Starter plan ($25 for 55 minutes), a 15-minute video uses about $6.75 of your plan. On the smallest Creator plan ($55 for 128 minutes), it is about $6.45.
Cutaway's plans include 150 minutes a month, which is about ten 15-minute videos. That is about $4.90 per video at $49 a month, or $2.90 for founding members. If you make more than 150 minutes a month, ViCut's larger plans have room for it and Cutaway's do not yet.
Where the pictures come from
ViCut searches Wikimedia Commons, Openverse, Pexels, Pixabay and USGS historical maps, and shows each shot's source and license. Its FAQ says photos of real people and events can also come from news and reference sites. Those are not licensed to you; the storyboard marks each one and one click swaps it for a licensed alternative. Its terms say it cannot guarantee the license status of every item.
By default, Cutaway uses only public-domain, CC0 and Creative Commons pictures and clips, plus files you upload. If you choose to include clips and pictures with unknown rights, each one is marked in the storyboard and the copyright risk is yours. The credits for your description are written for you.
Checking the edit
Both tools show you the shots before anything is rendered. ViCut lists every scene with alternative shots and flags the ones it is unsure of. Cutaway sends a storyboard of each line of your narration with its picture, and the agent asks only about the shots it is unsure of.
The difference is what happens if you are not happy. ViCut refunds in full within 14 days of your first payment only if you have used no credits. Cutaway edits the first 15 minutes of your first video before you pay anything, and if you are not satisfied with your first paid edit, we refund your payment.

How much does ViCut cost?
On October 31, 2026, ViCut's pricing listed Starter at $25 a month for 55 minutes, Creator from $55 for 128 minutes to larger tiers ($85 for 200 minutes) and Studio from $249 for 595 minutes, billed monthly. Billed yearly, two months are free. Taxes are added at checkout.
Does ViCut have a free trial?

Can I use my own voiceover in ViCut?

Yes. Paste a script and choose one of four AI voices to narrate it (each reads English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French), or start from a topic: the agent reads Wikipedia articles about it in your language, drafts an outline you can edit and writes the script from those articles, with the source sentence for each fact. You can also record your own.
